Hi, I’m Andrew. I’m here today to activate the high vibrations… Andrew Keegan, who played the two hottest conversation topics in the country and combined his fame with his faith, managed to rise above his youthful star and establish himself as spiritual leader. That’s right, I’m not… The ex-boyfriend of 10 Things I Hate About You has moved to Venice Beach, California, where he spends his days teaching surf lessons, practicing yoga and leading a community of believers in his closed-circuit community spiritual center. So how did he go from a teenage heart attack to a meditation guru with a hundred followers clinging to every word of him? We thought you’d never ask!

Long before he started pretending to be an actor or was on the cover of Teen, Tiger Beat and Bop magazines, Andrew Keegan Heying was born on the 29th. Born in January 1979 in Shadow Hills, California, where his mother works as a hairdresser and his father as an actor. When his younger brother showed an interest in acting, Keegan decided to put his hand on acting and audition before getting his first role as a rebellious teenager named Zack Dell in the 1994 cult classics Camp Nowhere at the age of 15, starring Jonathan Jackson and Jessica Alba. Shortly after, he made his television debut as Jack Kelly in Thunder Alley and added credits to films such as Plague Friday and The Fight for Justice : The story of Nancy Conne and series like Full House, Step by Step, Boy meets the world and Sabrina, Teen Witch.

Keegan’s popularity skyrocketed in 1996 when he was given a supporting role on Independence Day starring Will Smith, paving the way for his next recurring role as Wilson West in the popular family drama The 7th Heaven. From 1997 to 2002, Keegan also played Reed Isley in eight episodes of The Party of Five, and played with Joey Donner in 10 Things I Hate About You in 1999. Hit by a teen idol, Keegan decorated the covers of Tiger Beat, Bop and Teen Times with the same heart attacks as Jonathan Taylor Thomas. It was total chaos, he said about his first star. I still find some of these pictures disgusting. Maybe one day I’ll find a friend on Google, and they can all be taken off the Internet… but then I’ll be at the mall, and the girls’ soccer team will come up to me and say I love you. Anonymity was an almost impossible experience.

Add to the credits of O, Contract, Club of Broken Hearts : Keegan, a romantic comedy and the wave of summer night, saw its popularity drop after winning 7th place in 2002. He has appeared in short films such as The Perfect Enemy, The Brutal World, The New Wave, The Swamp Boys, Quick Glass and Love, Wedding, Marriage, and in TV series such as House and related, but has not found the strength to focus his energy on film. In 2009 he made his debut in the theatre production He Asked For It, but Keegan became even more restless when he broke up with his girlfriend, country singer LiAnne Rimes, and moved to Venice Beach to start over.

Keegan, who disappeared in exchange for days of surfing and meditation, reached a turning point in 2011 when he and his friends were attacked and held at gunpoint by a gang. The importance of this event is that it took place at the same time that the tsunami hit Japan, Keegan said. By declaring that the incident had awakened him to his inner spirituality, he went through a series of experiences that changed him forever. I had a moment when I looked at a streetlamp and it exploded. It was a strange coincidence, Keegan remembers. There was a heart-shaped rose quartz crystal on the altar, and… it all happened. It’s a long story, but actually the crystal jumped off the altar and missed the camera. That was weird.

These events prompted Keegan to continue to explore his spirituality, which led him to create his own spiritual community, known as the Full Circle, which allowed the top ten things I hate about you to become a star in 2014. When I moved to Venice, I had no relationship and had a lot of emotional work, he remembers. That’s how I found out what was called Human Design then, a combination of astrology, numerology, I Ching and chakras. Keegan shared his experiences with others and dropped most of his savings in Full Circle because the media reported that the former actor started his cult and a new religion.

Full Circle is an open source spiritual community, said Keegan in an effort to clarify the situation. We have faith. We truly believe that everything is an expression of the Creator and that the union creates our own destiny, our own way… The Full Circle is an interfaith center of the spiritual community, where people of all religions and backgrounds come together to meditate, practice yoga and engage in the arts. Ironically, part of this artistic expression was questioned in May 2015 when the California Beverage Control Unit raided and accused the Church of distributing alcoholic tea with traces of alcohol, called kombucha, without a sales license. Full Circle and Keegan downplayed this event and claimed that they did not know that a separate permit was needed.

Once the problem was solved, Keegan returned to his place in the Full Circle, where he worked for peace, love, and understanding among his disciples. That’s good. That’s good. It’s a smile, it’s a hug, he says. When you do things with a place of love, you feel good and it is an exchange of energy. It’s about being one with the environment, one with each other… It was more and more than you, and it was. And it’s not just for me. This is for everyone here. So if we all agree, that’s really what we’re talking about and what we can do from there.

Unfortunately Keegan’s wish to promote the positive ended in June 2017 when the Full Circle closed its doors. Today, a 38-year-old former teen idol seems to have disappeared again, which means he’s probably catching multiple waves on the Pacific coast or just meditating with his former community!
