Last week Laura met Mad Sweeney to meet the Baron for the resurrection, and Shadow learned a little about the deaths of Mr. Ibis. This week Shadow helps a midget couple to bring a spear to a midget couple on Wednesday and learns a bit about Wednesday’s past. Let’s sum it up, God’s company!
Warning: The spoiler’s coming!
Drum roll .
This episode is probably one of the most revealing of this season, and we refer not only to the incredible muscles of the Great Torah, even though it is called Donar, the German name. In this episode, we’ll learn a little more about Mr. Wednesday. It is also one of the saddest episodes of the season.
The episode starts backstage at the burlesque show. After passing a mysterious figure in front of the dancers and crew, we enter the stage and discover that it is Mr Mercredi. He starts singing songs and he’s a great showstopper. We want the American gods to have a musical song! It’s fantastic!
After the show on Wednesday he will go for a walk to take care of his guests. He’s looking at a table, especially at the technician. When we start guessing what time all this happens with all styles of clothing and music, a group of Nazis enter the establishment. The environment is as excited as we are when we see it. But we also capture this fascinating image.
Wednesday wakes up from his sleep and comes back as a gift. A shadow makes an ominous remark: Did the princess sleep well?
It’s still salt to be kept in the dark. I can’t blame him. He grabs a guitar case with a spear and goes to the mall on Wednesday to look for dwarves. The shadows are confused, and on Wednesday he explains that they are here, then there is rumbling about shopping malls.
Margin Note: The scene is actually quite similar to today’s retail market and shopping malls, as it shows many signs of discounts and final sales when stores close. It is also quite sterile with few customers compared to its habit of being a noisy place for people. In the past 10 to 15 years, shopping centres have disappeared and many well-known companies have deteriorated due to the expansion of online stores. This makes it easier for consumers to shop from a computer or phone instead of leaving the house. It’s actually pretty scary. In the next episode you will see a banner with the text The Future Is 1989 , which shows how this shopping mall is dead and hasn’t been changed for a long time or got something new.
On Wednesday he points out that the shadows sometimes remind him of his son. It’s weird, isn’t it? Could that be a clue? It certainly caught the attention of the shadows.
While searching for their dwarves, Mr. Dunyagoz sits in his war room thinking about the next steps that will lead him to victory in this war. Looks like he’s gone a little crazy. New media are coming into the room. He needs them to make more use of the power of their fans. When she applies the cat filter, one wonders if she has any strength. She seems a little shaky.
A burlesque flash of Mr. Nancy’s known anger and anger can be heard as he goes backstage. He’s stopping at his stargate. Inside, Columbia (Goddess of the United States) and Donar speak. She wants to go to California, but he’s not ready to go Wednesday. It’s not even safe to survive in sunny California.
We are also very happy to see Derek Tayler (Baby Daddy)! He’s more beautiful than ever!
Invite two beautiful ladies to the table on Wednesday. Whose? Well, the technical type, of course. He’s not impressed and he’s ready to go. Wednesday he quickly stops and reminds him that the show hasn’t even started yet. The phone rings for the technician, and he picks up.
After the phone call, on Wednesday, he said to her: I mean, when a shiny new thing comes along and these wires and dials start spinning, you need real power at your side. The technician has been quite confident so far. Wednesday leaves him alone with this and starts with Donara’s performance.
During the show Donar and his assistants show many acts of strength. A Nazi came to talk about Donar on Wednesday.
Back in the present Wednesday and the Shadow have found their dwarves: Cindry and Dvalin. Sindry cursed Alvis for sending her away. The environment tries to agree with them on the work of the lances. To get what he wants, he has to get a Lou Reed leather jacket on Wednesday.
Looking back, a Nazi who spoke about the environment is looking forward to meeting Donar and wants him to join Neudeutschland. Wednesday loves him and encourages Donara to join him. He’s glad his son is getting his old glory back with the Nazis. Colombia’s complaining about it. We’re complaining too. No God should flourish in the face of the Nazis, no matter how desperate they are.
Columbia is on stage to do their act, and it’s pretty patriotic. The technician gets carried away and applauds her for getting up.
Right now, Skid Row I’ll Remember You is playing, and in the display window is a window with Lou Reed’s coat, which tells the story of what Lou Reed did for the music on Wednesday. Turns out he was wearing a priest’s robe. Actually, he’s a bishop. The clerk is too eager to sell him the jacket. They both share their love of music.
While the clerk is counting the money he received on Wednesday, Shadow is in a suit and aviator sunglasses looking for all sorts of delicacies. He holds up his badge and comes to arrest the bishop. Right now, this scam is probably the most disgraceful and crazy! Shadow even has two guards with him. The social worker’s going crazy, but Wednesday she’s crazy about it.
Margin Note: If you’ve read a book, you know he calls it a crazy game and says it’s his favorite game.
The shadow gives a good facade to the fact that the bishop is wanted for forgery. The shadow asks him to show the bills and take the jacket as evidence.
Wednesday is impressed by Shadow’s work. The shadow rises to ask him about his son, because he has a good place. On Wednesday, he let him know that his son Donar is dead. The Shadow is confused because everyone knows who Thor is. Wednesday he says that there are certain deaths from which God cannot return, but he does not reveal any more.
The latest news, headlines reveal Donar and his growth as a hero in the sport. He had his hair cut and his beard shaved. Mr. Nancy’s coming to see him. Donar tells him how he was told to lose to a German during the games. Nancy thinks he should do it and even tells him his own story about where he came from and how to follow his own path. She’s helping Donar in his decision not to help the Nazis.
Right now, on Wednesday, the jacket is being hung on Dvalin’s shoulders. He’s preparing his spear for healing. Wednesday is grateful to be reunited with his spear.
An alarm went off in the war room and warned the world that Wednesday’s spear was safe again. It opens and presses the sinister red button. New media tell him he needs more bandwidth to reach more people and get more power. He assures her that she will have them and that her newcomer will soon be ready for war. It’s not scary at all.
Blinking, the Donar is weightlifting. The Colombian girl comes in and sulks because she missed her show. He explains what he thinks and says he’s ready to go to California. Heard the Wednesday Ravens.
On Wednesday the Tech Boys will be presented in Colombia, which is very happy to meet them.
In fact, he behaves like a creepy stalker when he looks at her as if he worships her. He offers him a job at home. She decides to think about it. On Wednesday she is invited to show her fate, as Donar did when he left with the Germans. Donara is a master of manipulation and arrives in California on Wednesday, ready to travel, informing her that Colombia has decided to explore other options. Donar, angry, blames him.
Donar still refuses to lie down in front of the Germans. On Wednesday he told her not to go to the theatre, but Donar laughed at him. Those two are across the street. Wednesday with a spear and Donar with a hammer (Mjolnir). When a weapon collides, the lance breaks and falls to the ground.
Wednesdays the thunder hits, how much energy Thor possesses… That this is just one example of the power that Donar will eventually have. But Donar doesn’t care, and he turned his back on his father.
In a fit of rage, Wednesday was left alone in an alley and lost a son.
For the time being the shadow apologizes, but on Wednesday he tells her he did it. Only the spirits of his past.
On Wednesday, Shadow finally learned how Donar died. In 1942 Donar committed suicide. It is the gods of death who cannot return. He adds that this is the last sacrifice God can make. We wonder if Donar’s sacrifice wasn’t for Colombia after all.
In the closing scene Mercredi sings a sad song in his old theatre, because he misses his son. It’s difficult and tragic and it’s barely kept us going.
During this episode, the image of God met with true terror and tragedy. What do you think of Donar the Great? Let’s talk about the comments below!
